Anyone pricing MG's plug-in SUV this autumn should know one thing first. The sticker price has been moving under the car rather than because of it. MG launched the new HS Super Hybrid in April at Rs 10,199,000. Then the reduced sales tax on hybrids expired at the end of June, a September dealer notice raised the Hybrid+ by Rs 500,000 and, as Gari.pk reported it, put MG's other HS hybrids at "price at delivery".

So the MG HS PHEV price in Pakistan, as of October 2026, is Rs 10.199 million on the list, and probably more at delivery. Below we go through the questions worth asking an MG dealer, one at a time, from the price to the electricity bill.

What will the MG HS PHEV price in Pakistan be at delivery?

Nobody can say for certain yet. The second-generation HS arrived in late April 2026 in two hybrid forms, the Hybrid+ at Rs 9,499,000 and the plug-in Super Hybrid at an introductory Rs 10,199,000 (The News, April 2026; PKRevenue, April 2026). Bookings needed Rs 1.5 million.

Then tax got in the way. Hybrids under 1,800cc, the HS included, had enjoyed a reduced 8.5 percent sales tax, and that concession ended on 30 June 2026. According to an internal MG communication to dealers reported by Gari.pk, the coming increase came from tax, not from MG's own base price, and MG would absorb part of it depending on when buyers had paid. It would cover all of it for full payment by 31 July, three-quarters for full payment in August, and half for partial payments (Gari.pk, August 2026).

Timeline of the MG HS plug-in hybrid's price in Pakistan: December 2024, first-generation HS PHEV locally assembled at Rs 9.899 million; April 2026, second-generation Super Hybrid launched at Rs 10.199 million; 30 June 2026, reduced 8.5 percent hybrid sales tax expires; July 2026, CKD line-off in Lahore; 14 September 2026, Hybrid+ raised by Rs 500,000 to Rs 9.999 million while other HS hybrids are listed at price on delivery
How the plug-in HS got to its October 2026 price.

On 14 September a dealer notice put the Hybrid+ at Rs 9,999,000, up Rs 500,000, and Gari.pk reported that hybrids now carry 18 percent sales tax. That 18 percent comes from SRO 1525(I)/2026 of 13 September, which covers locally made hybrids up to 2,000cc such as the Hybrid+. Whether it also covers the plug-in Super Hybrid is disputed. PakWheels reported that plug-in hybrids weren't named in the SRO and remain at 25 percent (PakWheels, September 2026), while Daily Pakistan listed the "MG HS PHEV / Hybrid+" among the cars that qualify for 18 percent (Daily Pakistan, September 2026). The Gari.pk report said other HS hybrid prices were listed as "price at delivery" (Gari.pk, September 2026). PakWheels' listing, updated 15 September, still shows the Super Hybrid at Rs 10,199,000 (PakWheels).

For the plug-in, then, plan around either rate. In late August, before the SRO, Daily Pakistan assumed 25 percent and estimated the Super Hybrid at about Rs 11.75 million if MG passed all of it on (Daily Pakistan, August 2026). We couldn't find a confirmed post-September Super Hybrid price from MG. Ask the dealer for the price at delivery in writing, which sales tax rate the invoice carries, and how much of the tax change MG is covering on your booking date.

Which HS is the dealer quoting me for?

PakWheels lists three current HS models, and only one of them plugs in.

  • HS 1.5 Turbo: petrol only, listed at Rs 8,799,999.
  • HS Hybrid+: a self-charging hybrid. No plug.
  • HS Super Hybrid: the plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and the subject of this page.

The HS 1.5 Turbo price is from PakWheels' September listing. You may also see the older, first-generation HS PHEV, which MG's website still lists. That car became Pakistan's first locally assembled plug-in hybrid in December 2024, launched at Rs 9,899,000, with a 16.6 kWh battery and about 52 km of electric range (TechJuice, December 2024). PakWheels lists it with a 3.7 kW onboard charger (PakWheels). The new Super Hybrid has about half as much battery again and roughly two and a half times the claimed electric range, so make sure you know which one you're being quoted for.

MG held a CKD line-off for the Hybrid+ and Super Hybrid at its Lahore operations in July 2026, after announcing a $20 million expansion there in March (Profit, July 2026). Local assembly should make parts and service easier to find over time.

How far does it go before the engine starts?

With a charged battery, the HS drives on electricity. When the battery runs low, the 1.5-litre turbo takes over — from there it behaves like a normal hybrid.

MG claims 135 km of electric driving on the NEDC test. Global reviews quote 120 km on the stricter WLTP, and an Australian long-term test found the battery gave around 100 km in EV mode (NRMA, August 2025; EV Central, August 2025). One Lahore owner on PakWheels reported 120 to 132 km with the AC on, which is a single owner's experience, not a test. Our own estimate, at 18 kWh per 100 km on the road and the roughly 23.2 kWh that Australia's cars4starters says is usable, is about 130 km (cars4starters, May 2026). So plan on something between 100 and 130 km.

That's more than twice the 40 to 50 km day we use in our examples, so a city week can run largely on the battery. On a Friday run up the M-2, you'd use the battery for the first 100 to 130 km and petrol for the rest.

Around 100 to 130 km of real electric driving covers most city weeks without petrol, and in our view that's the main reason to buy one. For long trips there's a 55-litre tank, with no charging stops needed, and 176 mm of ground clearance is enough for most speed breakers and broken roads.

Where do I plug it in, and for how long?

PHEV buyers often skip this question.

The Super Hybrid charges on AC only, through a Type 2 socket. PakWheels notes there's no DC fast charging on the Pakistan-spec car, and Australian reviews say the same of the global model (PakWheels). Public DC chargers are no use to it.

MG quotes about 4 hours on a 7 kW wallbox and about 7.5 hours on the portable charger. By our sum (23.2 kWh × 1.1 ÷ 7 kW), a full charge on a wallbox takes about 3 hours 40 minutes and uses about 25.5 units, which is about Rs 1,400 at Rs 55 a unit. A 7 kW wallbox is the most a typical single-phase home supports, and it's all this car needs. Our guide to the electrics of a home wallbox covers the details, and the load-shedding guide explains why a 4-hour charge fits most nights even with a cut.

PHEV owners can also top up away from home. Because the car only takes AC, a host's Type 2 wallbox is the useful kind of charger. EVDost listings state the plug type, so a Type 2 wallbox is easy to spot, and two hours on a 7 kW host charger puts back roughly 70 km of electric driving. Find a Type 2 wallbox near you.

What does a month of mixed driving cost?

Bar chart of the cost of 100 km in October 2026: MG HS Super Hybrid on electricity charged at home about Rs 1,090; Super Hybrid running on petrol at 6.0 litres per 100 km about Rs 2,270; petrol-only MG HS 1.5 Turbo at 11 km per litre about Rs 3,430
Plugging in every night is what makes the Super Hybrid cheap to run.

On electricity, at 18 kWh per 100 km and Rs 55 a unit (the unit rate is explained here), 100 km costs about Rs 1,090.

With a flat battery, the car runs as a hybrid. MG doesn't publish a battery-depleted fuel figure, so we used the 6.0 litres per 100 km that NRMA saw over 230 km of suburban driving in Normal mode. The review doesn't say how much charge the battery had, and Pakistani heat and traffic could push the figure higher. At Rs 377.71 a litre, the 24–26 October 2026 price set by the Petroleum Division (Investify, October 2026), that's about Rs 2,270 per 100 km. Check the pump before you lean on it.

For comparison, PakWheels lists the petrol-only HS 1.5 Turbo at 11 km a litre on average (PakWheels), or about Rs 3,430 per 100 km.

Real life mixes the two. Drive 1,000 km on electricity and 400 km on petrol, and the Super Hybrid costs about Rs 20,000, roughly Rs 14 a km. The same 1,400 km in the petrol HS costs about Rs 48,000. Skip the charging and most of that saving disappears.

Should I look at the H6 or the J7 instead?

Table of plug-in hybrid SUVs in Pakistan, October 2026: MG HS Super Hybrid listed at Rs 10.199 million with 135 km NEDC electric range; Jaecoo J7 PHEV at Rs 9.999 million after a September 2026 cut, with 18.3 kWh and 90 km WLTP; Haval H6 PHEV at Rs 10.849 million with 106 km NEDC; BYD Sealion 6 due for local assembly from late 2026, price not announced, 70 to 100 km reported
Plug-in SUVs around the Rs 10 million mark.

The Haval H6 PHEV was priced at Rs 10,849,000 in September, with 106 km of NEDC electric range for the FWD version (ProPakistani, September 2026; PakWheels, July 2026). The Jaecoo J7 PHEV has an 18.3 kWh battery and 90 km of electric range on WLTP, and costs Rs 9,999,000 after a Rs 500,000 cut on 14 September 2026 (PakWheels; ProPakistani, September 2026). BYD plans to start assembling the Sealion 6 plug-in locally in the fourth quarter of 2026, with no price yet (The Nation, September 2026).

On paper the HS claims more electric range than the standard H6 PHEV or the J7, though Haval's H6 GT PHEV claims 183 km on NEDC, at Rs 12.949 million (ProPakistani, September 2026). For fully electric cars at similar money, our electric car price guide for Pakistan lists the main EVs and links to each plug-in hybrid guide.

Is the Super Hybrid right for my family?

The Super Hybrid makes most sense for a family with a porch or garage where a 7 kW wallbox can go, a daily drive under about 100 km, and regular trips to another city where charging stops would be a hassle. If you can't charge at home, a self-charging Hybrid+ is simpler. If you rarely leave town, a full EV costs less to run; our PHEV vs EV guide goes through that choice.

The things that might hold you back are mostly about money and plugs. The final price is unclear while the hybrid tax settles. There's no DC fast charging, so on the road you're on petrol or a slow AC top-up, and without regular charging it's just a heavier, pricier hybrid. We also couldn't confirm the Pakistan battery warranty for the new model.

We'd only buy the Super Hybrid if it'll be plugged in most nights, because that's where the savings come from. If it will, get three things from the dealer on paper before you sign, namely the price at delivery, how much of the tax change MG is covering on your booking date, and the battery warranty for the new model.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MG HS PHEV price in Pakistan after the tax change?

The MG HS Super Hybrid, MG's current plug-in HS, is listed at Rs 10,199,000 in Pakistan as of October 2026, its April 2026 launch price. After the reduced hybrid sales tax ended on 30 June 2026, MG's September dealer notice listed its other HS hybrids at price on delivery, according to Gari.pk. Reports disagree on whether the plug-in now pays 18 or 25 percent sales tax, but either is above the old 8.5 percent, so expect a higher final figure and confirm it with the dealer.

How far can the MG HS Super Hybrid go on electricity?

MG claims 135 km of electric-only driving on the NEDC test for the HS Super Hybrid's 24.7 kWh battery, and global reviews quote 120 km on WLTP. Expect roughly 100 to 130 km in normal use, less in heavy summer traffic with the AC on full.

What charging does the MG HS Super Hybrid support?

The MG HS Super Hybrid charges on AC only, through a Type 2 socket, and doesn't support DC fast charging. MG Pakistan quotes about 4 hours on a 7 kW wallbox and about 7.5 hours on the supplied portable charger, as of October 2026.

Is the MG HS Super Hybrid locally assembled?

The MG HS Super Hybrid is locally assembled: MG Pakistan held a CKD line-off for it and the Hybrid+ at its Lahore operations in July 2026. The earlier first-generation HS PHEV was also locally assembled, from December 2024.

Is the HS Super Hybrid better than the Haval H6 PHEV?

As of October 2026 the MG HS Super Hybrid is listed for about Rs 650,000 less than the Haval H6 PHEV (Rs 10.849 million) and claims more electric range, 135 km against 106 km, both on NEDC. The MG's final price after the tax change isn't confirmed yet, so compare on-the-road quotes.
