BYD Sealion 6 cover card: Not priced yet, 18.3 kWh (reported) battery, 70–100 km on battery (reported), beside a photo of a white SUV plugged into a charging cable on a paved residential street at dusk, with a dark car parked further along

Visitors who saw the Sealion 6 on BYD's stand at the Pakistan Auto Show in September went home without a price for it, and they're still waiting. As of 25 October 2026, there is no official BYD Sealion 6 price in Pakistan. There is a firm plan, though. BYD's local partner, Mega Motor Company, says the Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid will be the first BYD assembled in Pakistan, with production due to start in the last quarter of 2026 (The Nation, September 2026). That makes it one of the most talked-about cars of the year, and one of the least documented.

So this is a "what we know" guide. Every figure below is labelled with where it comes from, and where the Pakistani car could differ, we say so. We'll update it when BYD publishes a price. Because the missing price is the whole story for now, that's where we start.

BYD Sealion 6 price in Pakistan: the number nobody has published

Several things have to settle before BYD can put a number on it.

The first is local content. A car assembled from imported kits pays different duties from a fully built import, and the Sealion 6 is the first BYD to go through Mega Motor's line.

Then there's tax, and plug-in hybrids sit in an awkward spot. A draft auto policy for 2026–31 proposes 9 percent sales tax on PHEVs, against 1 percent on full EVs and 6 percent on range-extenders. PakWheels reports it still needs IMF and ECC approval, so it is a proposal, not law (PakWheels, October 2026). Even today's rate isn't settled. The SRO of 13 September 2026 (SRO 1525(I)/2026) cut the rate to 18 percent for locally made hybrids up to 2,000cc (Mettis Global, September 2026). PakWheels reported that it didn't mention PHEVs, which it said stay at 25 percent (PakWheels, September 2026), while Daily Pakistan counted locally assembled PHEVs such as the Haval H6 PHEV among the cars on 18 percent (Daily Pakistan, September 2026). A locally assembled Sealion 6 could land on either rate, so ask the dealer which one the invoice carries. Our NEV policy explainer tracks where the rules stand.

And BYD still has to choose a variant mix. An FWD car and an AWD turbo would sit at very different prices.

You will see "expected price" figures on some websites. We couldn't trace any of them to BYD or Mega Motor, so we haven't repeated them. For context only, it would join plug-ins such as the Haval H6 PHEV from Rs 10.85 million (ProPakistani, September 2026), the Jaecoo J7 PHEV at Rs 9.999 million after a price cut on 14 September 2026 (ProPakistani, September 2026), and BYD's own imported Shark 6 pickup at Rs 19.95 million (ProPakistani, June 2026). Where the BYD Sealion 6 price in Pakistan lands in that spread is BYD's call. For full electric cars, the prices are in our electric car price list.

The power figures conflict because the Sealion 6 comes in two broad forms abroad. The front-wheel-drive version pairs a non-turbo 1.5 engine with a single front motor, for 160 kW (about 215 hp) combined. The all-wheel-drive version uses a 1.5 turbo and two motors for 238 kW (about 319 hp). Both use an 18.3 kWh battery in Australia, though some markets also offer a larger 26.6 kWh "Extended" pack (PakWheels, July 2024; Rever Automotive). Which one Pakistan gets, or whether it gets both, hasn't been said.

Two years of sightings, then an unveiling

The Sealion 6 has been circling Pakistan for over two years.

  • July 2024. Test units imported through HUBCO, whose Hub Power Holdings now owns half of Mega Motor, the company that handles BYD here (The News, December 2024), were spotted, and PakWheels reported BYD might launch it if it suited local roads (PakWheels, July 2024).
  • May 2026. PakWheels reported demo units of three BYD plug-in hybrids, the Sealion 6 among them, had been brought in for evaluation, with no prices given (PakWheels, May 2026).
  • 18–20 September 2026. BYD unveiled the Sealion 6 at the Pakistan Auto Show at Lahore's Expo Centre (Autopower, September 2026) as its first locally assembled model. BYD's country head, Lei Jian, said building it here was a step towards staying in Pakistan for the long term (The Nation, September 2026).
  • Q4 2026. Planned start of local assembly. BYD's own Pakistan website did not list the Sealion 6 when we checked on 25 October (BYD Pakistan).
Timeline of the BYD Sealion 6 in Pakistan: test units spotted in July 2024, demo units for evaluation in May 2026, unveiled at the Pakistan Auto Show in September 2026 as BYD's first locally assembled model, local assembly planned for October to December 2026, with price and Pakistan specifications still to be announced

If the small battery carries over: charging

On the Australian Sealion 6 Premium AWD, CarExpert lists 7 kW AC and 18 kW DC charging (CarExpert). BYD's Thai importer lists 6.6 kW AC through Type 2 and DC through CCS2 (Rever Automotive). If the Pakistani car matches, home charging is easy.

  • 7 kW wallbox: about 2 hours 55 minutes from empty to full (18.3 kWh × 1.1 ÷ 7), using about 20 units, or roughly Rs 1,100 at Rs 55 a unit.
  • Portable cable at about 2.2 kW: about 9 hours from empty. Plug in after dinner, full by breakfast.
  • DC at 18 kW: about 37 minutes from 20 to 80 percent. A fast charger won't run it any quicker than the car allows, so DC is there for convenience.

That small battery is the Sealion 6's best friend for anyone without a driveway. Three hours on someone else's 7 kW wallbox fills it, where a big-battery EV would need most of a night. Our guide to charging in an apartment covers the options. If your building's basement has no socket, a host nearby can do the job. Listings on EVDost show the hourly price and plug type, and billing runs in 10-minute blocks, which suits a battery this small. Charge now near you.

Borrowed figures for the running costs

These estimates use the Australian Premium AWD's official figures, 17.9 kWh per 100 km on electricity and 5.8 L/100 km on petrol once the battery is depleted (CarExpert). The petrol figure is Rs 377.71 a litre, set for 24–26 October 2026 by a Petroleum Division notification (Investify, October 2026); expect it to have moved by the time you read this.

  • Home electricity at Rs 55 a unit all-in (see what goes into Rs 55), with 10 percent charging loss: about Rs 1,083 per 100 km.
  • Public DC at Rs 115 per kWh: about Rs 2,058 per 100 km.
  • Petrol, battery depleted: about Rs 2,191 per 100 km.
  • A Haval H6 1.5T on petrol, at the 11 km/L middle of PakWheels' 10–12 km/L range (PakWheels): about Rs 3,434 per 100 km.
Bar chart of estimated running cost per 100 km in October 2026, using Australian-spec figures: BYD Sealion 6 on home electricity about Rs 1,083, on public DC about Rs 2,058, on petrol with a depleted battery about Rs 2,191, against a petrol Haval H6 1.5T at about Rs 3,434
Estimates only. The Pakistani car's figures aren't published yet.

Two results are worth a second look. Unlike the heavy Shark 6, the Sealion 6 is frugal even on petrol, at roughly 17 km/L by that official figure. And public DC charging costs nearly as much per km as its own petrol, so the saving comes from charging at home.

The case for plugging in every night

Plug in nightly if your parking allows it. With 81 km on Australia's ADR test and less in a Karachi summer with the AC on, think of about 65 km a day, a fifth below the test figure, as the electric budget. Using the figures above, a day's driving costs roughly this much.

  • A 40 km day on battery costs about Rs 430, against about Rs 880 if you never charge.
  • A 60 km day costs about Rs 650 on battery and about Rs 1,310 unplugged.
  • A 120 km day, with about 65 km on battery and the rest on petrol, costs about Rs 1,910.

Skip charging for a week and nothing breaks. You just pay roughly double. If you're torn between this kind of car and a full EV, our PHEV vs EV guide runs the same test.

The plug-ins you can buy today instead

The obvious rivals are already in showrooms. The Haval H6 PHEV offers 106 km on NEDC from Rs 10.85 million (ProPakistani, September 2026); see our Haval H6 PHEV guide. The locally assembled Deepal S05 range-extender has a 27.28 kWh battery and runs only on its electric motor, with the engine acting as a generator; our Deepal S05 guide has the details. The Jaecoo J7 PHEV undercuts the H6 slightly, at Rs 9.999 million.

Against them, the Sealion 6 would bring BYD's dealer network and the first BYD built here. If it keeps the 18.3 kWh battery shown so far, that is small for the class, and it would lean on its engine sooner than the S05 does.

Checklist of questions to ask a BYD dealer about the Sealion 6 in Pakistan: final price and what it includes, which variant (front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive turbo), battery size and electric range with its test cycle, AC and DC charging power and plug type, battery and vehicle warranty, delivery date and the refund terms on the booking amount, and whether a home charger is included

If bookings open before the full spec sheet is out, ask for the answers above on paper. A deposit is easy to pay and slow to get back, and launch-week terms often change.

Our own view is that there's no prize for being first in the queue. If you need a plug-in SUV now, the Haval H6 PHEV and the Deepal S05 are already in showrooms, and either is easier to judge today than a car with no published numbers. If you can wait, wait for the price and the Pakistani spec sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official BYD Sealion 6 price in Pakistan yet?

The BYD Sealion 6 has no official price in Pakistan as of 25 October 2026. BYD and Mega Motor Company have announced local assembly from the fourth quarter of 2026, but final pricing, variants and specifications are still awaited. Treat any "expected price" you see as a guess.

When will the BYD Sealion 6 launch in Pakistan?

BYD plans to start assembling the Sealion 6 in Pakistan in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to its September 2026 announcement at the Pakistan Auto Show. No delivery date or booking window had been published as of 25 October 2026.

What is the Sealion 6's electric range?

The Sealion 6 shown in Pakistan was reported with an 18.3 kWh battery and 70 km of electric range on NEDC, while the 2024 test car was reported at 100 km. The Australian AWD version is rated at 81 km. The Pakistani figure hasn't been confirmed.

Is the Sealion 6 a plug-in hybrid or an EV?

The Sealion 6 is a plug-in hybrid. It uses BYD's Super DM-i system, pairing a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a battery you charge from the wall. It drives on electricity first and brings in the engine when needed.

How long will the Sealion 6 take to charge at home?

The Sealion 6 would take about 3 hours from empty on a 7 kW wallbox, by our October 2026 estimate, if the Pakistani car keeps the 18.3 kWh battery and 7 kW AC charging of the Australian version. On a portable 2.2 kW cable, allow about 9 hours.
